Rail Budget 2013: Focus should be on modernization of railways, says Hind Rectifiers

Rajesh Chandan, CEO, Hind Rectifiers expects an increased focus on modernization of railways and spending on safety and infrastructure.

NEW DELHI: Given that Indian railways ensure transportation services to both citizens and businesses, Rajesh Chandan, CEO, Hind Rectifiers has emphasised that the Rail Budget 2013 is crucial to the running of this institution.

Chandan expects an increased focus on modernization of the railways and spending on safety and infrastructure from the rail budget. According to him, this would be achieved through allocation of funds for modernization and maintenance of infrastructure such as power equipment, signaling equipment, fencing lines, firefighting equipment etc.

Chandan also said that providing additional services would provide a huge phillip. "Implementation of high speed rail, metros/monorail in multiple cities and increased usage of Electrical Multiple Unit ( EMU) trains between stations would improve operations, provide more options to consumers and enhance revenues," he said.

According to Chandan, increased participation of the private sector through Public Private Partnership (PPP) should be encouraged. This he said would result in increased rail investment.
