KOLKATA: State-owned steel major Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) today said the proposed Rs 400-crore wheel and axle plant in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal is still on the radar and is awaiting resolution of a few issues.

"We are awaiting for a few issues and conditions to be sorted out before a definitive agreement. But the project is still on the radar," RINL chairman and managing director P Madhusudan said.

Several rail projects in various parts of the state were rolled out during Mamata Banerjee's tenure as the Railway Minister.

Madhusudan said the definitive agreement for a forged wheel plant was signed at Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 1,100 crore.
