Built at a cost of over Rs 8,300 crore, the Pink Line connects Maan to the District Court Metro station, providing connectivity between the Hinjewadi IT hub and Shivajinagar. The corridor is expected to improve access to one of Pune's major employment centres and ease daily commutes for thousands of IT professionals and other passengers.
The new line will integrate with Pune's existing Metro network through interchange facilities, enabling connectivity across different parts of the city. It is also expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion and lower vehicular emissions while improving access to major commercial and residential areas.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for Phase II of Pune Metro, which will be developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 13,500 crore. The expansion comprises four corridors — Lines 2A, 2B, 4 and 4A — and is aimed at extending Metro connectivity across the city's residential, commercial and IT hubs.
Lines 2A and 2B will together cover around 12.75 km. While Line 2A will connect Vanaz to Chandani Chowk, Line 2B will run from Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi, extending the existing east-west Metro network.

Line 4 will span approximately 25.52 km, connecting Kharadi to Khadakwasla, while Line 4A will cover 6.12 km between Nal Stop and Manik Baug.
The proposed corridors will connect key locations across Pune, including Kharadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Swargate, Manik Baug, Nanded City, Pune Cantonment and Warje.
The eastern extension from Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi is expected to improve connectivity to developing residential, commercial and IT hubs in Kharadi and Wagholi.
The new corridors will also be integrated with intercity bus services and the existing Metro network through interchange facilities at Swargate, Nal Stop and Kharadi Bypass, facilitating smoother travel across the city.
