PESB recommends Ajit Kumar Panda for CONCOR CMD

The Public Enterprises Selection Board has recommended Ajit Kumar Panda, presently serving as Director (Project and Services) at Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), as Chairman and Managing Director of the railway public sector undertaking. The meeting for his selection was held Saturday.

Panda is a 1990 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer. He has served as Executive Director (Mechanical Engineering and Project Planning & Development) at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). Panda was also Director (Production Units and Efficiency & Research), at the Railway Board.

He holds degrees of BE (Hon's) in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Rourkela and M. Tech (Thermal Engineering) from IIT, Delhi.


According to CONCOR, Panda piloted Rolling Stock plans at Railway Board to rapidly switchover to High Horse Power Locomotives and LHB type coaches. Panda also coordinated record production of locomotives, coaches and wagons.

He has twice been awarded the Railway Minister’s National Award for Outstanding Service.
