Parkash Singh Badal meets Railways Minister

The Centre has agreed in principle to create world class railway infrastructure in Punjab thereby upgrading the existing railway stations and constructing new bridges across the state.

CHANDIGARH: The Centre has agreed in principle to create world class railway infrastructure in Punjab thereby upgrading the existing railway stations and constructing new bridges across the state.

An assurance to this effect was given by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal when he met him in New Delhi, a Punjab government release said.

During the meeting Badal urged the Railway Minister for raising and re-modeling 17 submerged railway bridges in Muktsar, Ferozepur and Bathinda districts.

Badal also pointed out that the construction of railway over bridge in Gidderbaha should be cleared by the Railway Ministry and the state government was ready to bear 100 per cent expenditure of this project.
