Overhead wire snaps, affects rail services for hours

Over half a dozen long distance express trains were stranded at different places after the overhead wire snapped between Rajkharswan and Badabambo stations under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway, a railway official said.
Immediate restoration work began to normalise the movement of trains but the services remained affected for hours, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ashok Agarwala said.
While the rail services were disrupted for about three hours on the down track, the up track was affected for six hours, he said, adding after which the rail services on the route was restored.
Agarwala said several trains including the Howrah-bound Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express, Ahmedabad-Howrah Express, Utkal Express, South Bihar Express and Ispat Express were among the affected trains.
