Otis gets Hyderabad metro contract for elevators, escalators

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail project, being developed by L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd, on Tuesday said that Rs 400 crore worth contract of installing elevators and escalators has been awarded to OTIS Elevator Company (India).

The Letter of Award (LOA) was signed and exchanged by V B Gadgil, Chief Executive and MD of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd (LTMRHL) and Sebi Joseph, MD of Otis Elevator Company (India) Ltd, a press release from L&T said.

"I am pleased that as of now we are well within our time frame of executing the project ahead of the schedule. We have successfully accomplished placing all major equipment contracts as per schedule," V B Gadgil said.

The heavy duty elevators and escalators for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project will be fabricated in Otis factories in Guangzhou Otis Elevator Company Ltd (Escalators) and Otis Elevator (China) Company Ltd (Lifts) in China.

Installation will be done by OTIS Elevators Company (India) Ltd. Otis will also maintain the lifts and escalators for 10 years, after the two year warranty period, for which a separate maintenance contract is being entered with Otis India, the release said.
