Now you can WhatsApp pictures of dirty rail stations directly to authorities

Now if you are travelling in Western Railway regions of Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Ratlam or Mumbai and find dirty railway station, you can file a complaint on WhatsApp. As part of the Western Railway's cleanliness drive, passengers can send pictures of dirty station directly to authorities on mobile messaging platform WhatsApp.

The Western Railways has deputed dedicated staff round-the-clock to handle such complaints about cleanliness. Passengers can also complaints against the contractor of any toilet if they feel it are charging more money. The dedicated WhatsApp number to file complaints in Mumbai suburban stations is 9004499733.

The Railways has also introduced such WhatsApp numbers in its five other divisions of Vadodara (9724091426), Ahmedabad (9724093981), Bhavnagar (9724097967), Rajkot (9724094983) and Ratlam (9752492970).



"Efforts will be made to immediately attend to the area concerned and address the grievance. This will be an additional monitoring mechanism in addition to inspections already being carried out by station masters and other officers," an official told PTI.

Besides Mumbai region, the Western zone covers the whole of Gujarat, and a few areas of Rajasthan and MP.

Authorities are hopeful that this will ensure clean railway stations and toilets in the region.
