Now dedicated counter for cancellation, refund at railway stations
If the current counters are not available at the station or a PRS counter is closed for the mandated period, then tickets booked through PRS counters may be cancelled and refund may be availed through such dedicated facilities, it said.
According to a release, Railways have decided that one of the counters meant for unreserved ticket bookings at the existing ticket reservation centres will be converted into UTS (unresereved ticketing system)-cum-PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counter only for cancellation and refund of PRS.
The instructions in this regard stand effective from today, it said.
If the current counters are not available at the station or a PRS counter is closed for the mandated period, then tickets booked through PRS counters may be cancelled and refund may be availed through such dedicated facilities, it said.
This facility, however, will be available for the tickets of those trains whose scheduled departure time is within 24 hours from the time of cancellation of tickets, the railways said.
