Northern railway disruptions ahead of G20 Summit: Details here

Ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit, the Northern Railway has announced significant disruptions affecting over 300 Delhi-bound trains and parcel facilities from Friday to Sunday. Passengers are urged to stay informed about these changes as they plan their travels.

Starting with the most critical information, the parcel facility will be unavailable at key stations in Delhi, including New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Sarai Rohilla, and Nizamuddin, during the specified period, reported ToI.

Regarding train services, while long-distance trains remain unaffected, short-distance trains are facing alterations. Some will be short-terminated, others canceled, and a few diverted from their usual routes.


Prem Shankar Jha, Executive Adviser to the Divisional Railway Manager, clarified the impact, stating, "The long-distance trains have not been affected. Only short-distance trains have been affected, of which some are short-terminated, some cancelled and some diverted."


In numbers, 208 passenger trains and 129 mail express trains are set to be influenced by these adjustments, with around 40 of them getting canceled. Some trains will halt their journey before reaching their final destinations, such as stopping at Ghaziabad and resuming from there.

For passenger convenience, 78 trains will receive additional stoppages. This means that if a train is coming from Punjab to New Delhi, for example, it may include Badli as an additional stop, allowing passengers to board or disembark.

The disruption is not evenly spread across the three days. The official shared, "The number of trains being affected on Sunday is less than the other two days."

Several prominent trains, including Taj Express, Sarbat Da Bhala Express, Bhiwani-Tilak Bridge Express, Sri Ganganagar-Tilak Bridge Express, Meerut Cantt-Sri Ganganagar Special, Sirsa Express, and Rohtak Intercity Express, are among those affected.

On Saturday, the Mathura-Ghaziabad EMU Special will be diverted via Hazrat Nizamuddin-Sahibabad, and similarly, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ghaziabad Express Special will follow the same route on Sunday.

In the interest of passenger safety, additional security personnel, and railway protection force officers will be deployed at all Delhi stations. Their task will include thorough frisking and baggage checks to identify any suspicious items.
