NHSRCL signs pact with L&T for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Thursday signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of track works for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

Sharing the annnouncement on social media platform 'X' (formerly known as Twitter), NHSRCL said, "National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro for the design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of track works for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project in Maharashtra."

The deal with L&T includes track works for four stations and a rolling stock depot at Thane, which is a key milestone in India's first bullet train project.


"Covering a 157 km alignment from Mumbai to Zaroli village, the package also includes track works for four stations and a rolling stock depot at Thane, marking a key milestone in India’s first bullet train project," NHSRCL said in the post.

In early September, the Ministry of Railways launched the second 100 metre span of a steel bridge across NH-48 in Anand, Gujarat, completing the 200 metre bridge, a milestone pacing India towards the bullet train project. The bridge weighs around 2884 metric tons.

Another bullet train bridge at the Cadilla Road crossing, is being assembled on-site for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. This is a steel bridge measuring 70 meters in length and weighing 677 MT.

On September 7, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that viaduct construction in Dahanu-Palghar area is underway after the completion of the construction of the viaduct in 319 km.
