A bench, headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar also directed the Chief Commercial Manager and all zonal managers to file within two weeks affidavit on unhygienic condition on railway tracks and platforms.
It further directed the commissioners of three Municipal Corporations in Delhi to be present on January 12 and explain what steps they have taken to utilise Rs 11.25 crore given by Railways.
"The Railways Chief Commercial Manager and all Zonal Managers shall submit in its affidavit as to how and where the amount of more than Rs 6 crore collected by way of fine has been utilised for improving the environment and health care on the platforms and the railway tracks.
"We direct the Railways authority to take all steps in furtherance to our directions and ensure their compliance without default. We make it clear that it is not merely issuance of circulars in furtherance to our directions that would be seen as compliance," the bench said.
