New Linke Hoffman Busch coaches on Pandian express

Divisional Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Garg, who inaugurated the service yesterday, said the new coaches weigh 15 per cent less than the old ones and can carry eight more passengers per coach.

MADURAI: Passengers of Chennai bound Pandian Express had a pleasant surprise on Independence day,getting to travel comfortably on brand new lightweight Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) steel and aluminium coaches.

The old coaches had been replaced by Railways with LHB coaches.

Divisional Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Garg, who inaugurated the service yesterday, said the new coaches weigh 15 per cent less than the old ones and can carry eight more passengers per coach.

Consequently, the number of coaches had been decreased from 24 to 22, he said

The Chennai-Tiruchirapalli Rockfort Express would also have the same set of coaches, he said.
