Improved Connectivity
The New Delhi Railway Station caters to nearly 5 lakh people in a day. For commuters, the NDLS will be connected to the Indira Gandhi International Airport through the Airport Express Line Metro and also with Delhi-NCR via the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro.

Decongestion
The railways also plans to have 2-arrival and 2-departure points at the concourse level and two Multi-Modal Transport Hubs (MMTH) on either side of a Dome-shaped terminal building.
The entry points are proposed on Chelmsford Road, DDU Marg, Basant Lane, and near Minto Road. Exit sides are proposed on Minto Road, JLN Marg, Chelmsford Road, Bhavbhuti Marg, and D.B. Gupta Road.
Pedestrian movement, cycle tracks, green tracks and non-motorized vehicle have been integrated into the proposed development plan.

Airport-like facilities
The Indian railways plans to cater to passengers with facilities such as food courts, lounges and restrooms which will be in line with airports.
Retail and hotel space
Besides the terminal building, the station estate will have a redeveloped office for Railway, staff quarters, and ancillary railway works. It will also include 40-floor high-rise twin towers with retail spaces.

Multilevel parking
For the ease of commuters, the redeveloped station will have multi-level car parking which is likely to accommodate 2,000 cars and 40 buses.
