Need to change perception about train ticket checkers: Minister Manoj Sinha
Sinha acknowledged the problems being faced by the ticket checking staff and assured the staff of looking into all their genuine demands.
Addressing a conference of ticket checking staff here, Sinha said railways employees must work towards changing the perception about them in public mind.
"You work for 24 hours (a day). You work even on festivals like Holi or Diwali. But then this is our strength... It is very important how you conduct yourself in public. The image of railways will reflect in your behaviour with passengers," he said.
"Perception means a lot so you should be aware about it. What people think about you also matter a lot," he said.
Sinha also acknowledged the problems being faced by the ticket checking staff while performing duties and said railways too is facing difficulties. "These problems can be addressed and there is no need to agitate for this," he said.
The minister said if there is a need for training for the staff then it should be done.
Laying emphasis on the performance, Sinha said everyone should put in sincere effort to improve performance.
The ticket checking staff have been demanding rest house along with cooking facilities at stations, better uniform, pay scale upgradation among others.
Sinha assured the staff of looking into all their genuine demands. "I assure you that all genuine demands will be met because that is in railways' interest," he said.
