Namma Metro reaches Mysuru Road Station in trial run

BENGALURU: After Thurday's failure and a struggle through the night, Namma Metro finally reached Mysuru Road Station at 2.30 am on Friday in its trial run. The feat was to be accomplished on Thursday evening but some embarrassing technical snags ensured otherwise.

Metro rail's managing director Pradeep Singh Kharola, who was present at the test, said, “The train was delayed due to a problem with the power connection and signalling. The train started the trail run in the early morning and reached Nayandahalli cross and again came back to Magadi road at a speed of 5 kmph.“

The trial run is expected to continue in Reach-2 for two month.Speed will be increased to 25 kmph and finally to 80 kmph during the trial runs. The reports will then be sent for independent safety assessment and then to the Commissioner of Railway safety. The metro service on that section will be opened in by the first week of July.

Reach 2 connects Mysuru Road station, which is near the Nayandahalli cross with Deepanjalinagar, Attiguppe, Vijayanagar, Hosahalli, Magadi Road, City Railway Station and Majestic, which is the interchange point for the Green and Purple lines of Namma Metro.

The metro recently managed to navigate the underground tunnel between Cubbon Park and Magadi Road by driving a train through the tunnel at extremely low speeds to check for clearance and other possible issues. The train emerged from the tunnel at Magadi road after a three-day journey through the tunnel.
