Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation appoints consultant for implementation of Metro-3

MMRC said it has appointed Aecom Asia-led consortium as a consultant to assist it on implementation of Colaba-Bandra-Seepz underground Metro corridor.

MUMBAI: Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) today said it has appointed Aecom Asia-led consortium as a consultant to assist it on the implementation of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz underground Metro corridor.

"The consortium led by Hong Kong-based Aecom Asia will assist MMRC in the complete implementation process of the Metro-3 project," a statement issued here said.

The other companies in the consortium include Japanese firm Padeco, USA-based LBG and French company Egis Rail.

"The consultant will evaluate bids for civil work and assist in appointing contractors, review and proof check detailed designs, prepare tender design and documents for procurement of track work, rolling stock, system components.

"It will also have to supervise the supply and installation and check whether safety, quality and environmental aspects are met as well as system integration. It will also have to do testing and commissioning of system," the release stated.

MMRC recently received bids from nine consortiums, including domestic and international, to develop the 33.5-km and Rs 23,136-crore project, in seven parts.
