Mumbai metro one arbitration: MMRDA Deposits ₹560 crore

The MMRDA has deposited ₹560.21 crore with the Bombay High Court registry concerning an arbitration case with Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL), a Reliance Infrastructure subsidiary.

Mumbai The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has deposited ₹560.21 crore with the registry of the Bombay High Court in an arbitration matter involving Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL), a subsidiary of Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Infrastructure (R-Infra), the company said in a regulatory filing.

In June, the high court had directed MMRDA to pay the arbitration award of ₹1,169 crore to MMOPL and deposit the amount with the registry before July 15, 2025. MMRDA, however, filed a special leave petition before the Supreme Court, challenging the order. The SC then directed MMRDA to deposit 50% of the award amount. MMOPL had stated that the money would be used to reduce its debt.
