Konkan railways proposes passenger friendly measures on silver jubilee

The measures include widening of platforms and setting up escalators in Udupi station, along with the Byndoor- Mookambika road station getting a new building.

MANGALURU: The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. ( KRCL) has proposed a slew of measures to facilitate passenger amenities during the Rail Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight being held from May 26 to June 9.

The measures include widening of platforms and setting up escalators in Udupi station. The Byndoor- Mookambika road station would have a new building, a Konkan release said.

The celebration coincides with the Silver Jubilee of the KRCL, the release said.

The corporation had plans to install bio-toilets in all stations on the Konkan Railway network. It has initiated collection of bio-degradable garbage from pantry cars. KRCL was constantly working towards improving passenger comfort, the release said.
