KMRL ropes in CDM Smith to carry out carbon emissions survey

KOCHI: Kochi Metro Rail Ltd has assigned CDM Smith, an international agency, to carry out detailed survey on reduction of carbon emissions along the metro alignment from 2018 to 2048.


The study will give an idea about probable reduction in cars, scooters, vehicles due to commencing of metro and how much pollution will come down as a result of this. This will help KMRL earn carbon credits, a KMRL press release said.

CDM Smith is also conducting study for the projection of revenue pattern and thereby recognise suitable funding of the project for KMRL.

The scope of work also includes study about multi-modal integrated approach with buses, boats, rickshaws and integrated ticketing linked with metro development.
