The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the state government to submit a statement on the "factual and legal" position and stage of implementation of the Metro Rail project.


BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the state government to submit a statement on the "factual and legal" position and stage of implementation of the Metro Rail project.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B V Nagarathna, passed orders on a public interest writ petition and adjourned further hearing to March 10.

The petitioners, CMH Shops and Establishments and Residents Association, CHM Road, Indiranagar here, contended that the project will have serious inmplications on finances, economy and environment.

The petitioners have also prayed for declaring the Metro rail project as "ultra virus of the constitution and violative of statutory provisions".
