IRCTC fake app alert! Here's how to be safe

IRCTC has warned about a malicious mobile app campaign aiming to trick users into installing a fake 'IRCTC Rail Connect' app, which may cause loss of money and data of users.

“Alert: It has been reported that a malicious and fake mobile app campaign is in circulation where some fraudsters are sending phishing links at a mass level and insisting users download fake ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’ mobile app to trick common citizens into fraudulent activities," tweeted IRCTC.

It has further emphasized the importance of downloading the authorized IRCTC Rail Connect app from official app stores. "People are advised not to fall prey to such fraudsters and use only IRCTC’s official Rail Connect Mobile Apps from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and call IRCTC Customer Care on official numbers published on IRCTC official website https://irctc.co.in. Be Alert! Be Safe!"

The fraudulent app poses a risk of disclosing sensitive personal data and falling victim to financial deceit. Fake apps are created generally with the motive to gain personal information like login details, payment particulars, and personal particulars

IRCTC advised users to remain well-informed, adhere to security protocols, and avoid interacting with dubious links or unauthenticated apps in order to tackle with situations like this.
