IRCTC appoints Rajneesh Narain as chief financial officer

State-run Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Tuesday appointed its Director (Finance), Rajneesh Narain, as the company's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with immediate effect, following approval by its board.

The appointment took effect on July 14, 2026, the company said in a regulatory filing after its board meeting.

Narain joined IRCTC as Director (Finance) on June 15, 2026, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in the coal sector. Before joining the railway PSU, he served as Director (Finance) at Northern Coalfields and previously headed the corporate accounts team at South Eastern Coalfields, where he also handled business diversification and other key finance functions.

An MBA in Finance, Narain began his career with South Eastern Coalfields and has held senior roles spanning accounting and taxation, fund management, contract management and budgetary control. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Chhattisgarh East Railway and Chhattisgarh East West Railway, subsidiaries of South Eastern Coalfields, for six years.

IRCTC described Narain as a financial analyst and strategic thinker with expertise in negotiation, stakeholder management, team building and mentoring. The company said there are no inter-se relationships between Narain and other directors, and that he holds 100 equity shares in IRCTC.
