Indian Railways' Vande Bharat train to run as Tejas Express from February 15

Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. The 'made in India' trains covers the distance between New Delhi and Varanasi in 8 hours and runs 5 days a week, except for Monday and Thursday.

New Delhi- Varanasi Vande Bharat Express train will operate as Tejas Express from February 15 to March 31, Northern Railways CPRO Deepak Kumar has said.

The operation of India’s first indigenously built semi-high speed train will be handled by the railways.

At present, 4 pair of Tejas trains are plying on different routes. The two trains — Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Karmali Tejas Express and Chennai Egmore-Madurai Jn Tejas Express — are operated by the Indian Railways are . The other 2, namely Lucknow-New Delhi and Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad, are operated by the IRCTC.


With this addition, Indian Railways will run three Tejas Express trains.

Apart from AC coaches, the Vande Bharat Express comes with the best set of amenities. The Express train offers high-speed WiFi to the onboard passengers, GPS-based PIS, touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, mobile charging slots, automatic climate control system and LED lights.

The 16-coach AC train has 2 executive compartments that have 52 seats each, The trailer coaches have 78 seats each. The executive class coaches comes with rotating seats that match the direction of the train.
