Indian Railways’ Gandhinagar station in Gujarat is getting makeover like never before.

The Gandhinagar station is being revamped under Railway Ministry’s station redevelopment and beautification plan and the Indian Railways Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) is heading the station’s redevelopment project work.

So far, 94.5% civil work has been completed at the project site, the IRSDC has said. The tentative completion date for the station redevelopment project is December of this year.

The upgraded and modernized Gandhinagar railway station will boast a five-star hotel above the rail tracks, which will be run by the Leela Group.

The new station will have retail shops as well as food courts in the concourse area. The transit hall will be able to seat as many as 600 passengers.

Once work is complete, the revamped railway station will be at par with international standards and boast of world-class passenger facilities.
