Indian Railways cancels Delhi bound trains
The Railway Board has cancelled Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10, citing intelligence inputs and anticipated road congestion due to opposition-called protests.
“Severe road congestion is expected around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station area on October 10, 2026 between 4:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs due to demonstrations planned by opposition parties in Central Delhi,” a senior official said, adding this is the same pattern seen recently at New Delhi station.
“Due to rush and road blockades linked to such protests, a train departed leaving nearly 5,000 genuine passengers left behind on platforms unable to reach on time,” the official said.
According to the Railway Board directive, all mail and express trains starting from source after 14:00 hrs on October 9, which were scheduled to arrive New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4:00-14:00 hrs on October 10 are cancelled at source.
The Delhi police also issued an advisory to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) curbing entry and exit at 57 stations in the capital.
