New Delhi: The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen has sought a minimum pay of ₹69,000 per employee in its representation on the 8th Central Pay Commission. The railway worker body pitched a fitment factor of 3.833 to "ensure an adequate and meaningful revision of pay."

According to an NFIR statement, a delegation led by president Guman Singh and general secretary M. Raghavaiah presented its demands before the commission in New Delhi on Friday. The federation sought doubling the annual increment from 3% to 6%, with a minimum financial benefit of 10,000, and at least five promotions during an employee's service.

It also demanded merger of dearness allowance with basic pay whenever DA reaches 25%, open-ended pay scales and a distinct pay structure recognising the arduous and hazardous nature of railway duties.
