Route
The underwater corridor that is set to be inaugurated on March 6 will run from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade, which will be a 4.8 km stretch. It is the second section of the East-West Metro corridor between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, the IT ghub of West Bengal.

Ticket prices start at Rs 5 and can go up to Rs 50, depending on the station's distance. For the first two kilometres, the fare is Rs 5, and then it increases to Rs 10, Rs 15, Rs 20 Rs 25 and so on up till Rs 50.

Deepest station
In April 2023, Kolkata Metro's first rake reached the Howrah Maidan under the river Hooghly. Howrah will be the deepest Metro station (33 meters below the surface) in the country. The Metro is expected to cover the 520-meter stretch under the river Hooghly in 45 seconds. This tunnel under the river is 32 meters below the water level.
