How to Obtain a Railway Ticket Refund

In accordance with railway rules, passengers are entitled to a full refund if the train is three hours or more late.

For counter tickets, visit the reservation counter to cancel. For online tickets, follow the cancellation steps on IRCTC website.

For e-Tickets purchased online, the refund amount will be credited to the bank account used for booking within 3 to 7 days. If the train consistently experiences delays after the chart has been prepared, file a TDR online to cancel the ticket.

Passengers with PRS Counter Tickets need to collect the refund from the respective PRS counter by surrendering the ticket within three days of the scheduled departure.

​Passengers should not independently cancel tickets for trains that have been canceled, as they will receive a full refund automatically.
These procedures only apply to train delays or cancellations due to bad weather or unavoidable reasons.
