High-tech train enquiry system to be launched in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A high-tech train enquiry system for rail commuters will be launched here tomorrow by the South Central Railway (SCR).

The SCR is introducing HYLITES (Hyderabad Live Train Enquiry System), a GPS/GPRS-based smart phone application which operates on android platform.

"HYLITES is a GPS/GPRS-based smart phone application on android platform, first-of-its-kind on Indian Railways, developed by South Central Railway on out-sourcing basis," an SCR release said here today.

HYLITES displays real time information on the running of all MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) trains and live status of arrival/departure timings (with platform numbers) of express/passenger trains at Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Kacheguda stations.

The application, which also provides information on a host of other issues useful for rail users of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, will be launched by SCR General Manager P K Srivastava, the release added.
