'Go Mumbai Card' for commuters to be launched on Thursday

The much awaited electronic card which will integrate all modes of public transport and allow a "cashless" travel for a commuter will be launched here on Thursday.

MUMBAI: The much awaited electronic card which will integrate all modes of public transport and allow a "cashless" travel for a commuter will be launched here on Thursday.

Christened as the "GO Mumbai Card", it will allow commuters to travel on the BEST buses as well the suburban rail network on the Central Railways initially.

The card is already in use on the BEST buses allowing commuters a cashless travel.

The card is initially to be used only on the Central Railways and later on Western Railways.

The budget speech of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had mentioned the project as one of the unique schemes to be implemented by the Railways.
