Ghanshyam Singh takes over as new Member-Traction of Railway Board
An officer of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineering (IRSEE) of 1979 batch, he is a Gold Medalist in B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Allahabad University.

Singh has worked in various other key positions in the Indian Railways has executed several innovative project work towards infrastructural development over Indian Railway System like, planning for Rail Infrastructure Development of Power Plant & Refineries, Railway Electrification, Planning for Multi-Modal Transport Logistic Park, Development of Micro-Processor based tokenless system for PRS/Bhopal, Installation of First Travelator of India on IR System at Habibganj Railway station, designed & commissioned battery-cum-25 KV OHE operated shunting-cum-training car at Sealdah, among others.
While working as Chief Electrical Engineer in ER, Singh developed the methodology for power procurement from the private producers for the first time in Indian Railways.
It has now been adopted by Railway Board for implementation all over Indian Railways.
He has also designed HVDS (High Voltage Distribution System) for rural electrification in Uttanchal.
