New Delhi: The entire 82-kilometre Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail (called Namo Bharat) will begin services later this year, Niko Warbanoff, CEO of Deutsche Bahn told ET. DB is handling operation and maintenance of India's first regional rapid transit service (RRTS).

"We currently operate 55 kms...The entire corridor is expected to start operations by the mid-2025," Warbanoff said. Highlighting how the Delhi-Meerut project can set an example for future projects, he said, "Regional rapid rail and metro projects India are a significant opportunity for the country. The Delhi-Meerut corridor will act as a a model for future RRTS projects in the sub-continent."
