Ministry of State for Railways V Somanna on Tuesday announced a new stop for four trains operating between Bengaluru and Mysuru at Nayandahalli, a small station surrounded by several residential and commercial areas in southwest Bengaluru.

This will fulfill a long pending demand of citizens of Bengaluru, Somanna, who represents Tumakuru in the Lok Sabha, said.

The four trains that will now have a brief stop at Nayandahalli are: Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru City Chamundi Express (16215/16216); •Mysuru-Bagalkot Basava Express (17307/17308) •Thoothukudi-Mysuru Express (16235/1 6236) •Mysuru-Pandharapur Gol Gumbaz Express (16535/16536).

"There had been a lot of pressure on me from citizens to introduce a halt for trains at Nayandahalli. I have had meetings with railway officials which has now led to a positive outcome," Somanna said in a statement.

Nayandahalli comes under Govindarajanagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru. Somanna had represented it during the previous BJP regime, where he also got Bengaluru’s erstwhile civic body BBMP build Dr.Puneeth Rajkumar Multi-Specialty hospital.

The new stop will help people travelling to and from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bagalkot, Tamil Nadu, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Pandharpur as well as those commuting daily between Mysuru and Bengaluru, the MoS (railways) said.

This move will significantly improve connectivity and ease daily travel for commuters in the region, Somanna said, while requesting passengers to make full use of the enhanced convenience.

People living in nearby residential areas including Chandra layout, Suvarna layout, ITI layout, Nagarabhavi, RR Nagar, Kathriguppe and Hosakerehalli will benefit a lot from the new halt.

Somanna, in his statement, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for responding to his requests and approving the same.
