A Vande Bharat train travelling from Bhopal to New Delhi caught fire in the early hours of Monday after a battery box in the superfast train went up in flames.

No injuries have been reported from the incident. Railways officials say passengers in the affected coach were immediately shift to other coaches.

The fire first came to the attention of railway staffers at 6:45 am, when they spotted that the battery box of the C-12 coach was on fire. Once the flames were spotted the Rani Kamalapati-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat train was immediately stopped between Kurwai and Kaithora stations in Vidisha district, officials told PTI.


The blaze was immediately brought under control, the official said. Railway staff are conducting repairs, officials said.
