A fire incident was reported at Mumbai’s busy Churchgate railway station on Thursday, following a short circuit at one of the stalls in the concourse area.

According to officials, sparks were noticed due to the electrical fault, prompting an immediate response from on-ground staff. A fire extinguisher was deployed swiftly, and the situation was brought under control within five minutes.

“There was an incident of sparking at a stall in the concourse area due to a short circuit. Our alert staff acted promptly and used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames,” said a Western Railway in a post on social media platform X.



No injuries or damage to property were reported. Officials have confirmed that train services at Churchgate station remain unaffected and are running as per schedule.
