In a bid to actively take part in the ongoing industrialization process in Orissa, the Railways has geared up its machinery to expedite work on new lines, gauge conversion, traffic facility etc, in the state.
BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to actively take part in the ongoing industrialization process in Orissa, the Railways has geared up its machinery to expedite work on new lines, gauge conversion, traffic facility etc, in the state.
"Railways will do its best to discharge the expected role in the industrialization process of the state," Railway Board Chairman, Kalyan C Jena, said today.
Jena was here to attend the inaugural function of the 73rd All India Railway Athletics Championship.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik formally announced beginning of the championship in which more than 650 players from different zones are taking part.
The Railways is aware of the rapid industrialization in Orissa which has signed MoUs with various firms for setting up industries, ports and other facilities, Jena said.
Jena said the Daitari-Banspani line which had been commissioned recently, would prove handy for transportation of iron ore from mines area to ports and steel industries.
"I am sure, we will witness a significant improvement in rail infrastructure in the state in coming years," the official said.
Later, he met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat where details regarding the progress of various railway projects were discussed.
