THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister of State for Human Resources Development Shashi Tharoor has urged Railways to make arrangements to run special trains between Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi to clear the extra rush of passengers during Christmas and New Year.

Tharoor, who represents the Kerala capital in the Lok Sabha, today took up the matter with Vinay Mittal, Railway Board Chairman.

A large number of persons, including families are holding wait-listed tickets on various trains for travel during the season, he said in a press note today.

Several passengers had brought to his notice their anxieties on this count and he immediately spoke to the Railway Board Chairman to consider running special extra services to meet the demand, Tharoor said.

Mittal assured him of positive action on the demand, he added.
