Expedite work in Dahanu-Nashik Rail link, urges Palghar MP

THANE: BJP MP from Palghar, Chintaman Wanga, has urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to include the long-pending Dahanu-Nashik Rail link project in the forthcoming Rail budget and expedite its work.

Wanga, in the memorandum sent to the minister yesterday, said that the project was extremely important to the three districts - Palghar, Thane and Nashik.

He also urged the minister to initiate the survey for the Dahanu-Kalyan rail link for which he had been following with the Centre for quite some time.

Party leader and spokesperson for Thane and Palghar, Om Prakash Sharma told reporters that it is high time that the demand is taken seriously and work into the project initiated, which will benefit the tribal population of the three districts.

Wanga, in the memorandum, also demanded that the route between Vasai and Dahanu be made of four lanes.

The distance of Dahanu-Nashik rail link is 155 kms and between Dahanu-Kalyan it is 120 kms.
