East Coast Railway registers highest loading among zonal railways
In August, ECoR earned Rs 932.28 crore in originating goods earning as compared to 754.27 crore achieved in August 2012 registering an increase of 23.6 per cent.
During the first five months of the current fiscal, ECoR has loaded 61.83 million tonnes (mt) of freight as compared to 52.28 mt achieved in the corresponding period of last year by registering an increase of 18.3 per cent, ECoR said in a statement.
The incremental loading of East Coast is the highest in Indian Railways surpassing loading figure of South East Central Railway (60.98 mt) and South Eastern Railway (55.47 mt) of freight till August.
In August, ECoR has loaded 12.41 mt of freight registering an increase of 26.4 per cent from the loading of August, 2012.
In that month, South East Central Railway loaded 11.465 mt and South Eastern Railway loaded 11.05 mt, it said.
ECoR is also the only zonal railway which surpassed the loading target in first five months of the current fiscal.
On the earning side, this zone has earned Rs 4878.46 crore from the first five months of the current financial year which is 18.2 per cent more than the corresponding period last year. ECoR has earned Rs 4127.02 crore during the first five months of last financial year.
