Diwali gift: 17.8 km Pink line metro to open

The section will connect to northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri, Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Johri Enclave. With the interchange facility at the Welcome station.

Delhi Metro’s 17.8km Pink Line section from Shiv Vihar to Trilokpuri is expected to open by Diwali.

The corridor, which would connect northeast and east Delhi, would be inspected by the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), SK Pathak, on Saturday, following which it would open for the public.

“SK Pathak will inspect the Shiv Vihar-Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake section comprising 15 stations on October 20,” said a DMRC spokesperson.


The highlight of this section will be the three interchange stations - Anand Vihar (Blue Line), Karkardooma (Blue Line) and Welcome (Red Line) the spokesperson said, adding that after the inauguration, the Delhi Metro network will spread across 314 km.

The section will connect to northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri, Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Johri Enclave. With the interchange facilities at Welcome station, travel to Red Line will become easier.
