Dense fog disrupts rail traffic, over 35 trains running late

Dense fog in North threw the rail traffic out of gear as over three dozen trains including Rajdhani and Duronto were running late by more than seven to eight hours.

NEW DELHI: Dense fog in North threw the rail traffic out of gear as over three dozen trains including Rajdhani and Duronto were running late by more than seven to eight hours.

Departures of several trains including Howrah Rajdhani, Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, Sealdah Rajdhani, Howrah Duronto, Patna Sampoorn Kranti Express, Mahabodhi Express and Jabalpur superfast express were rescheduled.

Delhi Division has made special arrangements to help passengers affected due to the late running of trains.

In case the train is running more than three hours late, arrangements have been made to provide full refund to passengers who wish to cancel their tickets and want their money back.

Additional inquiry service at 23747110 (five lines) for round the clock service are made operational and the service is being dedicated to update the commuters about late arrival/departure of trains, said a senior Northern Railway official.

More inquiry counters have been opened at major stations to facilitate passengers. Officials said medical teams will also be available at stations.

In addition, SMS service has been started on the number-- 9717631813, where by entering five digit train number the customers will get arrival/departure time of the train.
