Delhi-Rohtak suburban train services launched

NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today flagged off a suburban train service to Rohtak at the Old Delhi Station here, fulfilling a long-pending demand of thousands of daily commuters from the Haryana town.

Rohtak is about 70 km away from the national capital. The Delhi-Rohtak-Delhi MEMU train and Rohtak-Delhi-Rohtak MEMU train services were launched at the Old Delhi Station. Senior railway officials were present at the event.

Both of the trains will stop at all stations on the route, officials said.

The Railways' role in enhancing inter-city connectivity and thereby allowing greater mobility through the new train services between Delhi and Rohtak would mark another turning point to the hinterland of Haryana and to the developing cities in the vicinity.
