New digs
Delhi’s Metro is adding a new station on the Dwarka-Dhansa Grey Line and has christened it the Dhansa Bus Stand station. While designing the station, the DMRC claims to have kept the area’s heritage in mind, paying homage to Najafgarh. Here’s how it’s coming along.

Roots
The area in and around the station is populated by folks who work in agriculture and animal husbandry, represented in the station using artwork that features them heavily.

Wildlife
Apart from the cultural and economical significance, the area also plays home to migratory birds in the winter. Everything from sparrows and kingfishers to eagles and ducks turn up here, which led to an artist painting birds in the station.

Integrated parking
The new station is also going to be home to the Delhi Metro’s first-ever integrated parking — which allows commuters to reach the concourse directly from the parking area, instead of parking outside the station and walking in.

Extension
This station is an extension of the existing line, adding to the 242 stations the DMRC operates across the region. The Najafgarh-Dhansa Bus Stand is expected to open sometime later this month.
