The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation issued a statement on Saturday night saying that the entry and exit gates of all stations have been reopened following security-related restrictions.

According to the statement, the facilities for interchange from one line to another have also been made functional at all stations facing these restrictions.

"Entry and exit gates of all Metro Stations of the Delhi Metro network are now open. The interchange facility at all the concerned Metro stations is also available," DMRC wrote in a post on X at 10.7 pm.

The development came after DMRC extended the closure of entry and exit gates of 45 metro stations up to 10 pm on Saturday in light of security-related measures regarding protests in the capital city.

The restrictions were imposed amid demonstrations organised by the Cockroach Janta Party, which demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and irregularities involving Form 6, used for voter registration.

The stations were earlier expected to open from 6 pm on Saturday; however, DMRC extended this decision for a period of four more hours after reviewing the security situation.

According to an earlier advisory issued by the metro corporation, the stations have been shut from 9 pm Friday onwards, and the security agencies will review the situation before any further decision is taken.

These restrictions apply to various stations in different metro corridors, such as Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Hauz Khas, Mandi House, ITO and New Delhi. Some other affected stations include Lok Kalyan Marg, Khan Market, Supreme Court, Shivaji Stadium, Dilli Haat-INA, Lajpat Nagar, Jama Masjid, Karol Bagh, Vishwavidyalaya, Inderlok, Azadpur, Seelampur, Shahdara and Rithala.

Earlier on Friday, DMRC had revised the advisory issued earlier, reducing the number of stations under entry and exit restrictions from 57 to 45 due to a request made by Delhi Police.

This was to address any apprehension regarding crowd movement towards sensitive areas. As per the previous advisory, interchange services were available at these affected stations, except New Delhi Metro Station.

Indian Railways has announced that all train services will resume their normal schedules from midnight on October 11, 2026, according to an official statement.

The restrictions within the metro and railway were just some of the various security measures implemented before the CJP demonstration in Jantar Mantar. With the heavy presence of police and barricades that prevented the demonstrators from gaining access to the specified site, groups dispersed to other locations in the city.
