Delhi Metro may soon reach Indirapuram

The under-construction Metro route from Wave City Centre to Sector 62 in Noida may be extended to Indirapuram.

GHAZIABAD: The under-construction Metro route from Wave City Centre to Sector 62 in Noida may be extended to Indirapuram. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) to prepare a detailed project report for extension of the 6.8 km Metro link.

“Work on the Metro link between Wave City Centre and Sector 62 is go ing on in full swing and we have proposed that the project be extended till Indirapuram,“ said Vijay Kumar Yadav , GDA 's vice chairman. “I have asked DMRC to prepare a detailed project report and have proposed at least one station in Indirapuram, probably near CISF centre,“ he added.

Yadav said the proposal has been floated in view of massive traffic snarls that cases a lot of inconvenience to commuters on NH-24 and “if we succeed in our endeavour to ex tend it till Indirapuram, then it will take off the traffic load from the highway“. He also said the GDA is also ready to bear the entire cost of the project.

The Metro extension idea is not new. When the Wave City Centre and Sector 62 Metro project was conceived, the GDA had originally planned to connect it till Kanawani. But the idea had to be shelved after the civic body realised it was not in a position to spend on the extension project.
