Delhi Metro fare to go up from Wednesday

"The board has accepted the revision of fare recommended by a panel. There will be a public notice about the fare tomorrow and the new rates will be effective from Wednesday," a source confirmed.

NEW DELHI: Your travel in Metro rail will become a little more expensive from Wednesday. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) board on Monday approved hiking fares. The minimum fare from now will be Rs 10 instead of the present Rs 8 and the maximum fare will be Rs 50. At present, the maximum fare is Rs 30.

"The board has accepted the revision of fare recommended by a panel. There will be a public notice about the fare tomorrow and the new rates will be effective from Wednesday," a source confirmed.

The new fare slabs are Rs 10, Rs 15, Rs 20, Rs 30, Rs 40 and Rs 50.

The (distance-wise) slabs for new fare are as follows: 0-2 km Rs 10, 2-5 km Rs 15, 5-12 km Rs 20, 12-21 km Rs 30, 21-32 km Rs 40 and more than 32 km Rs 50.

Metro fares were last revised in 2009 when the minimum tariff was raised from Rs 6 to Rs 8 and the maximum fare from Rs 22 to Rs 30.
