Commissioner of Railway Safety inspects Silchar-New Haflong broad gauge Railway line
The inspection report will be submitted to the higher railway authority and accordingly the decision for running of passenger trains will be finalised.
The team comprising CRS South East Circle, Kolkata Sudharshan Nayak and other senior railway officials assessed the condition of the BG railway track and inspected the construction work of tracks, bridges, tunnels, signals, railway stations etc. for early running of passenger trains between Lumding and Silchar, N-F Railway sources today.
According to the CRS team, the inspection report will be submitted to the higher railway authority and accordingly the decision for running of passenger trains will be finalised.
Though the definite time for commencing the running of passenger trains is yet to be fixed, it was expected that the passenger train services in between Silchar and Lumding through Dima Hasao district will begin from August next.
The team members comprised of CRS Sudharshan Nayak, Administrative Officer Ajit Pandit, Divisional Railway Manager Niraj Kumar, Chief Engineer Rabinder Ram and other railway engineers and officials.
Earlier on March 27 last, goods train services from Lumding to Silchar were flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu by remote control from New Delhi.
