These trains aim to ease the extra passenger rush amidst skyrocketing airfares and fully booked regular trains. An official confirmed to PTI that while the trains are categorized as "winter specials" per the Railway Board's directive, their scheduling aligns with the high demand created by the concerts.
Officials highlighted that airfares between Mumbai and Ahmedabad have soared, and demand for these special trains is anticipated to exceed capacity. "Even these two winter specials might not be sufficient if the popularity of Coldplay and past railway experiences with the Cricket World Cup are anything to go by," an official said.
Schedule for Mumbai-Ahmedabad special trains
Departure from Bandra Terminus:January 25 at 6:15 AM (arrives Ahmedabad at 2 PM)
January 26 at 6:15 AM (arrives Ahmedabad at 1 PM)
January 26 at 1:40 AM (arrives Bandra Terminus at 8:40 AM)
January 27 at 12:50 AM (arrives Bandra Terminus at 8:30 AM)
The trains will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Udhna, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, and Geratpur in both directions, the report said.
Fares and ticketing
Tickets for these trains are available via BookMyShow. However, officials are unsure if general passengers can board or if they are exclusively for concertgoers.Special suburban locals for Navi Mumbai concerts
For the Coldplay concerts at DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21, Full Tariff Rate (FTR) suburban locals will run between Goregaon and Nerul:January 18 & 19: Depart Goregaon at 2 PM, arrive at Nerul at 3:23 PM. Return at 11:04 PM, arriving Goregaon at 12:30 AM.
These suburban locals will halt at Bandra, Andheri, Wadala Road, Chembur, and Jainagar stations.
