China experts to inspect on Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru train, increase speed to 180 km hour

The team is visiting Chennai as part of the pact India's Railway Board and China's National Railway Administration (NRA) signed two months ago.

BENGALURU: A 15-member Chinese team of experts will visit Chennai on Tuesday as part of their mandate to suggest ways and methods to increase the speed in the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru section from the present 110 km hour to at least 180 km hour.

The team will hold discussions with senior officials of the Southern and Southwestern Railways on Tuesday. The experts will also take up the window-trailing inspection on the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru section on Wednesday and Thursday .

The team is visiting Chennai as part of the pact India's Railway Board and China's National Railway Administration (NRA) signed two months ago. The agreement pushes for cooperation between the two countries in upgrading India's creaking rail infrastructure with measures such as raising the speed on the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru section, among others, and re-development of railway stations.
